What we collect
The free features of OAlquimista — recipe library, Cook Mode, meal planner, and shopping list — don't require signup and don't collect personally identifiable data.
OAlquimista Plus (optional subscription) uses Sign in with Apple to validate your access. We only collect the anonymous identifier Apple provides in that process — we never ask for a separate password, and you can choose not to share your real name or email with us through Apple's private email relay.
The recipes you create — including title, ingredients, steps, notes, and photos — are your own content, stored locally on your device.
How we use this information
We don't use your recipes, photos, or notes for anything beyond displaying them back to you inside the app.
The app collects anonymous, aggregated usage metrics through Firebase Analytics (Google) — for example, how many times Cook Mode was started or the paywall was shown. These events carry no recipes, photos, ingredients, or any content you created. App crashes are reported anonymously via Firebase Crashlytics.
Where your data lives
All content you create in the app — recipes, photos, categories, collections, shopping lists, and meal plans — is stored locally on your device using iOS's SwiftData.
Optionally, this content is synced across your own devices (iPhone, iPad, and Mac) through your private iCloud (CloudKit), tied to your Apple ID and subject to Apple's own Privacy Policy. By default, we never send your recipes to our own or any third-party servers.
If you subscribe to OAlquimista Plus, your account identifier and subscription status live on a small backend of our own, used solely to validate your access.
OAlquimista Plus subscribers can also, entirely optionally and off by default, turn on an additional server-side sync (in Profile → Server Sync). When enabled, your recipes and photos are also stored on that backend — alongside your personal iCloud, never instead of it — so you can recover them even without iCloud configured. You can turn this off at any time; doing so doesn't delete what was already uploaded, it just stops sending new changes.
Third-party services
OAlquimista doesn't use advertising SDKs. The third-party services integrated are:
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google) — anonymous usage metrics and crash reports, as described above. Data governed by the Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Apple Intelligence / NaturalLanguage (Apple) — on-device processing for recipe import from camera, PDF, or text. No content is sent to external servers.
- SFSpeechRecognizer (Apple) — voice recognition for Cook Mode voice control. Processed entirely on-device, nothing sent to any server.
- HomeKit (Apple) — local integration to preheat the oven. No data is sent to OAlquimista servers.
Advertising
OAlquimista does not show ads inside the app and does not share data with advertising networks.
When we promote the app outside of it (for example, through Apple Search Ads or partner ad campaigns), the app supports SKAdNetwork, Apple's own install-attribution mechanism. This tells the network responsible for a campaign, in an aggregated and anonymous way, whether it resulted in an install — without sending any personal identifier, in-app usage data, or information that could track you across apps.
Data retention
Aside from the account identifier and subscription status of OAlquimista Plus subscribers, we don't store copies of your data outside your device and your personal iCloud. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data; deleting your Plus account (see "Your rights" below) removes the rest.
Your rights
If you only use the free features, there's no personal data of yours for us to access, correct, or delete on our end. If you subscribe to OAlquimista Plus, you can delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app — deletion is immediate and doesn't require contacting support, per the App Store's guidelines for apps with accounts. Without the app installed, delete it via the account deletion form.
Children
OAlquimista does not collect personally identifiable data from any user, regardless of age — usage metrics are anonymous and aggregated. The app is suitable for all ages (App Store rating 4+).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will always be updated when that happens.
